Too much for a title

We had an awesome NIA class this morning, the girls danced along and I worked up a sweat. From there we headed over to the Fox and got there way early, but we had a mission. We wanted to catch Mama and Papa Gill before they headed inside to set up. Bethany had a drawing for them and we wanted to chat. They parked right behind us and marveled at the girls and how much they had grown; yeah, that happens. Then we waited for the rest of our group to show up, we had about 25 kids and adults there and the kids got front row seats. The first part of the show was spiritual songs sung by Grand by Design.

They are such a great group, I wondered if they knew ‘Dwelling in Buelah Land’. Once a month at church (when I was growing up) we had a night where we could ask to sing any song that was in the hymnal. I, being a kid, found the loudest, fastest song in there (and it has a really loud Praise God! in the chorus) and I requested it every time. Sometimes they just wouldn’t pick me, but sometimes they would and then…PRAISE GOD!!

Next up on stage was Black Hands Drums with Mr. and Mrs. Gill, they treated us to African drum rhythms and of course got the adults on stage to dance. That always cracks the kids up.

They had just started to warm up when it was time to end the show. Hannah’s friend Noah went up on stage when they asked for kid dancers, then the drums played for the kids to dance out of the theater.

Always a treat to see the Gill’s play and dance with them.

We ate lunch at Phoenician Kabob, a Greek restaurant on Colfax. It was so good, we had hummus, beef kabobs, warm pita bread and beef shawarma. Our plates were also filled with cucumber tomato salad and rice sprinkled with paprika. It was really good and we had baklava for dessert, served warm with honey…mmmm…..We headed over to the teacher store where I dropped off my grammar game (hoping to win the contest…) We picked up some stuff for our Valentine party at the homeless shelter, some stuff for co-ops and some random things.

Then we went over to the skating rink to skate around.

The girls got the hang of it faster than last time and soon they were gliding around the rink.

We hung out for an hour and then played on the block fountain for a bit. The D&F tower still has holiday lights on it, they look nice at night.

I got home just in time to pick up Joel and go right back to where I started this morning (pretty close to there anyway.)

Tomorrow, much less to do, just school and park day.
