We’re off

I won’t be updating much, but I’ll try to throw some pics up and some of what we see each day. I’ll probably wait until we get back to detail our trip. We’re having a mini-vacation/seeing family trip. The blue line is our trip down with the stars marking our camping spots (in Houston the kids will be staying at Grandma and Gramp’s house.)

The Green line is our trip back. We’re camping at free spots like Lake Meredith and one fee site (Goliad), but it’s only $10. Every spot is near some kind of water and we’ve never been to any of these sites before (I know, that sounds weird, but TX is a big place and though we lived there a really long time, we didn’t see everything.) I have a few roadside attractions picked out (like the Mcd’s shaped like a Happy meal and maybe Cadillac ranch), but most of the time we’ll just be checking out the scenery around our tent spot. We’re listening to these books on the way: George Washington Spymaster, Story of the World vol 2, The Sixth Covenant and Jane Eyre.

Today (Tuesday) we’re leaving early – really early, so that by the time we get to Lake Meredith (in TX, not the Lake Meredith in CO) we’ll have time to play before dark. It’s PB and J in the daytime and hot dog roasts at nighttime for the net few days. Sounds like an adventure.
