Artful Friday

This afternoon we went to the library to do a metal embossing art project. I like using the library for art because it costs me nothing (other than my taxes), they have to clean up the mess and of course, I don’t use up my art supplies. The girls got their copper sheet and a stylus and got to work.

Thinking about what you want to draw makes for a good picture.

I told them that if they waited till we got home we could brush it with shoe polish (it rubs across the raised areas and then you wipe the excess, it looks cool) but, they decided to use the markers to color it in.

We went from there to the Art walk, Bethany set up next to the Buxiejo gallery.

She was not only a starving artist, but a cold one too (it’s was in the low 30′s at that point.) She had a few lookers, but it was a bad traffic spot and we didn’t stay until the normal busy time which was 7pm. We ate dinner at El Noa Noa and then went to see the art in the gallery.

Hannah thought this picture of a Mandrill was cool.

The poetry slam might have happened, it was tentative when we were there, but we looked at the art and then went to the car to put up Bethany’s stuff since it had started snowing (plus we didn’t want to walk into the other galleries carrying art.) We went into the usual galleries, Spark, Core and Grace. Core had an interesting art-creating-water-device, I wonder if we could make something similar…..Bethany had a nice talk with some artist’s at Grace gallery, then we went home.

Tomorrow it’s CU Boulder for the girls and then Sunday we found a festival in Highlands to go to (Food truck fest, yum.)
