We did some school this morning and Bethany was taking a timed math test when I looked up and realized we needed to leave ASAP. I had a bus co-op and I didn’t have any cash or bus tickets, so we ran to the store and made it to the bus stop right at 11:15, the exact time I said to be there.
This was another ‘how to ride the bus’ co-op, but our goal was just to ride the 0, eat at a cafe’, take the free shuttle to the MOA, see the exhibits and then ride the 0 back to the RTD lot.
We got on the bus and had no problem getting to the cafe’, it did take a little while though because of all the stops the bus made and all the people who got on and off.
At the cafe’ we had french dip sandwiches, meatball sandwiches, turkey spinach wraps, cheese pizza, Mediterranean salad, and 3 kinds of soup (butternut squash, shrimp gumbo and vegetable.)
They were giving away tomatoes, peppers and apricots from their garden, so I grabbed a bag of peppers and tomatoes to go and we snacked on some apricots. We were walking to the shuttle stop when we got sidetracked by a thrift store. The good news is that the kids couldn’t buy anything really big because I said I didn’t want to haul stuff back on the bus. We finally made it to the shuttle stop and rode that to the MOA.
It doesn’t take long to go through the museum (it’s really small) and somehow my camera ate some of the pics I took; so all I have are these pics of M being funny.
As we were leaving we went by the fountain to take some pics, it’s pink for breast cancer awareness month (Hannah is sporting the purse she just bought at the thrift store.)
We think they should dye the fountain a different color every month.
We went to the bus stop, but I wasn’t paying attention to the schedule and didn’t ask if the bus was headed in the right direction when I got on. It didn’t take long to realize we were headed in the wrong direction, so we got off and went to the other side of the street to wait on the next South bound bus. Sure enough when I looked at the schedule again I saw the dashed line at gate C, that meant the bus didn’t stop there (but once an hour it does stop at gate C, so that was confusing.) At any rate I added another 30 minutes onto our trip home due to that mess up, but hey, it happens. On the bus we had a yawning circle (kind of like a drumming circle, only you make people yawn.) Grace and Hannah seemed impervious to the yawns, but I must have yawned at least 10 times (as did R, Bethany, M and Maura.) I bet you just yawned when you read that – it’s very contagious.
When the weather gets a little cooler we’ll do a walk from our house to the store (4.5 miles), then ride the bus to the cafe’, walk to the bookstore and then ride the bus back home. Last time we did that it wore Hannah out, sweet!
