We started out the day at Red rocks for a hike.
We parked in a different spot and did a loop trail and then headed back toward the visitor center.
We saw one rabbit on the trail, some birds and we got stuck in some brambles on a smaller trail that ended up going nowhere.
Red rocks has amazing views everywhere you look.
Hannah took these ‘window’ pictures through the cut outs in the fence by the visitor center.
There were a lot of visitors there trying to stay in the shade. It wasn’t that hot, just sunny.
For lunch we drove to SAME cafe and said ‘Hi’ to Brad and Libby. We dropped off some cups for their place, some books and some homeless bags that we had left over from our last outing. We had pizza, fruit salad, coleslaw with blue cheese chunks, broccoli and cheese soup and a cold fruit soup. The fruit soup was blended blueberries, strawberries some basil and onion and I think I tasted cucumber too, it was really good.
We went by the Botanic gardens for free day and finally got to see the Kizuna exhibit which was different sculptures around the gardens.
Flowers around the garden.
Some more sculptures.
Lily pads in the pond.
We wandered to the blue pool, the girls think it’s so neat to dip their hands in and have them turn blue.
Under the leaves.
The view from that section.
We went back to the Japanese gardens and then headed to the other pond.
We saw these funky lily pads there, they have corners!
More sculptures in the pond, they float around and turn with the wind.
We snacked on cucumbers under an oak tree and then headed to the kids garden. It has grown!
Last time we were there it was cold and there were no flowers, now look at it.
The pond in the kids section.
They got rid of the tipi, but put in a few log shelters covered in scarves for the kids to play in.
They have a fake creek for the kids to play in, but the girls didn’t want to wade (probably because it was busy.)
That was a nice day.
