After the party

The kids woke up early, the den was a mess, but after everyone left we just had to move the blankets and vacuum and it was back to normal.

I had the stuff out for the tissue paper art project and the kids came and went, starting papers and going outside to blow bubbles.

You can use regular tissue paper (but you need to spray it with vinegar) otherwise buy bleeding tissue paper and spritz with water.

The hardest part is waiting for the paper to dry so you can peel it off. Eventually everyone left and we went to lunch at Cici’s. Back home I took a glorious nap and then we took Grace out to Olive Garden. They don’t sing Happy Birthday anymore, but they did put a candle in our dessert and then we sang.

Grace said she had a great birthday, one more gift (a scooter) is coming next week. I’m still tired, but I’m glad she had fun.

Grace is 9!

My how time flies….I used to be able to fit 2 sleeping babies in a stroller…

When we went through glasses like they were disposable…

(Not to mention going to hospitals like it was free!)

And let’s not forget bunny, there in good times and bad.

Grace’s signature smirk….

and other photos from the past…..

Happy Birthday Grace!

Party!

Grace’s party kind of evolved from tissue paper.

We got this tissue paper to do tissue paper art, but then I saw that you need a special kind of tissue paper (or use vinegar and I didn’t want to use vinegar.) So, one art project led to two and a thought of kid decorated cupcakes with food coloring paint and an artist’s palette big cake.

I used the tissue paper to make a pennant banner, cute.

We had green, orange and red plates, pink forks, blue cups and yellow napkins.

Once the guests arrived we made popsicle people and ate hot dogs and chips.

Then we made some Kandinsky art and waited for James to call.

Little big planet Sackboy art.

I made the kids go outside to decorate their cupcakes (it was food coloring after all.)

We Skyped so James could see the opening of the presents (cupcake maker, whale pictures, spirograph, gift cards, webkinz, mannequin dress-up doll, DS and games.)

Then we lit the candle for the cake and ate!

The girls split up into two camps, younger and older. The younger ones watched a Barbie movie and Night at the Museum, the older ones watched music videos and played Wii. At 2 am I finally called down for a cease fire in the playing and talking and they went to sleep. A ‘sleepover’ should involve some sleep!
