Sorry about that Denverites

Things to do in Denver page is updated for January.

On being resolute

Someone asked what my resolution was the other day. I said I resolved not to yell at the kids….that day. Some say that resolutions are made to be broken, but that’s just if you resolve to quit eating chocolate or not drive over the speed limit. There’s nothing wrong with being resolute, I like that word. It means firmly resolved or determined; set in purpose or opinion. Since my words for the year are compassion, wisdom and laughter, I resolve to do those things. I am set in my purpose to be a better wife, mom, daughter, and Jesus follower.

I need to work hard this year and be determined to take the high road, the path less traveled, the way filled with boulders to climb, not just a flowered path to walk upon. In adversity and trying times, we can gain strength.

In climbing those boulders we can gain a new appreciation for faith and grace and how easy it is to fall without them.

So I resolve to go higher, to climb and take in the new heights that God has to show me.

The wonders of life that are all around, yet mysteriously hidden, waiting to be found, waiting to be seen, waiting to bring me closer to where He wants me to be.

What we do on non-school days

Well, we mostly have fun, but I had some errands to do today. Grace went to Creativity club while I ran Joel to get a hair cut and get his ID. We then ran by the post office and Target and then back to get Grace. We got home and the girls read while Joel went to on-line orientation. They changed the whole look of the on-line school and were having to go over how things would work. Joel said, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ to which the teacher replied, ‘you’ll love it!’, to which Joel replied, ‘probably not.’ One thing they did change that is in Joel’s favor is how to get participation points. He hates going to the on-line sessions mainly because the teachers drone and the kids chat away about stupid things, but now he has 4 more options to get the points, so that will be good.

Since it’s Tuesday movie tix are half price, so I took the girls to see Tangled in 3-D while Joel saw Tron in 3-D. Everyone had a good time. After the movie we ate Pho, I hate it when the waiter makes me order with numbers. Dude, I can speak perfect Vietnamese (when it comes to food) I say, ‘Pho tai’ and he says, ‘number two?’ Oh…my….gosh…okay….number two. He expects me to keep ordering by numbers, but I switch back to Vietnamese, ‘Hai pho tai va cà phê sữa đá’ Hah! However, my delight is short lived when he says, ‘Oh, two number threes and iced coffee?’ Sigh, yes, that’s what I just said.

It was Grace’s night out tonight and she could have picked anywhere to go; she chose the swimming pool.

We only had an hour, but we had fun playing basketball and shark attack. Afterwards we went to BR and got ice cream, which we ate before coming home. We talked to James and forgot to tell him we got a package off today. I also forgot to take a picture of the contents, so I know he will take a pic when he opens it, it’s really funny.

Tomorrow Joel and I have to go to the college to register for a class, he needs to get cracking at school (the girls start back next week) and I need to take the car to Honda (or Honda bear as Hannah calls it) for some maintenance (which means everyone is coming because they like to eat Honda out of popcorn and snacks.) I think we’ll do game night with James tomorrow, we’ll play our new game Uno attack via Skype and see if he can win while 7,500 miles away.
