HOMEschooling doesn't mean you always have to be HOME!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Emerson

Dance

The theme this time was Tell your story.

Here are the girls in the fireside room getting ready, it’s always chaos back there.

Several people got to tell their testimony during the dance. People are surprised when they come to see a kids dance recital and end up hearing the good news of Jesus. Some people complain that the girls talk too long, but this isn’t just a dance recital, it’s worship and part of that worship is the telling of how Jesus affects us. Our devotionals for the past 12 weeks have been about the true vine, the master gardener and our being grafted into Him on a continuing basis. Our dances reflected walking through good times and bad. The words in our song talked about the arms that take us in, when the world come crashing in, Jesus my friend, my shelter. Another song talked about Jesus being by our side.

The girls did an amazing job, Grace really put emotion into her dance, Bethany was smiley as usual and Hannah had a toe tapping good time with her dance. The adults dance was simple (good thing), I loved the song and I thought we had a great time worshipping with it. Recessional went off great, it always does (but in rehearsal there were people who didn’t go quite on time.) At the end we were encouraged to go out and tell our story.

Oh, they meant right now. Well, my story is that I grew up in the church, went to church, asked Jesus to come into my heart, got married, went to church, tried my best to live for Jesus, fell, got up, fell, got up. Recently at a women’s retreat I had a…..renewal of sorts. Along with dance where we were being spiritually fed and stretched, the retreat just hit on some issues and things just exploded there. I started going to a women’s Bible study, reading my Bible every day, writing devotionals and poetry and studying for dance (because at dance we don’t just dance, we study the Bible and do devotionals every week.) It’s only a short break before dance starts again in Feb., but I already miss the watering of my soul on Mondays. So, that’s my story, it’s not a fantastic one, but it’s mine and every day God continues to add to it.

Here are videos of rehearsal. You’ll see one girl wearing the additions that they will all wear later on. (We always add something to the white skirt/shirt for recital.)

Some good friends who came to see us (and made the girls very happy.)

One of my favorite poems from this session:

I want to abide in You
rest, endure, keep on
taking comfort in Your arms

I want to be joined with You
united, entwined, woven together
taking refuge in Your peace

I want to give my burdens to You
affliction, anxiety, sorrow
and receive the gift You bring

I want to accept Your love for me
delight, devotion, passion
and receive Your grace today
