Chocolate and friends
But not chocolate friends! Last night we had an 80’s theme fondue night at church. There were 80’s songs, decorations and trivia all over the room. There were smurf pins, bangles and Rubik’s cubes on the tables and of course fondue pots. My friend Dana and I sat down and got to know the gals at our table, then we hunkered down for the trivia contest. I thought I’d do much better at this one than at the 60’s one (because I was around in the 80’s.) There were 25 questions, I got 21 (and lost.) How many can you guess right (answers at bottom of post.)
1. What actor was famous for the line ‘nanoo, nanoo’?
2. What did Archie Bunker call his son-in-law Mike?
3. Alien movie that was the biggest box office hit of the 80’s?
4. Martha Quinn was a popular VJ on what new channel?
5. What vegetable did President Bush announce he didn’t like?
6. Betcha bit a chip.
7. The best part of waking up is (blank) in your cup.
8. Bring out the (blank) and bring out the best.
9. It’s fun for a girl or boy.
10. Ooey, gooey, rich and chewy.
11. Where’s the beef?
12. Get a little closer, don’t be shy.
13. Raise your hands if you’re …..
14. Mmm, mmm, good.
15. It’s not nice to fool Mother nature.
There were a few more, but they were extra easy. We made our swiss cheese fondue and right before we put the cheese in we blew a breaker. Suddenly half the tables were without cheese! We plugged in elsewhere, melted the cheese and brought it back to the table. The next game was song titles, my friend got 1, I got 1, the other table won. I know the songs, I just don’t know the titles. Then we cleaned up and headed for the chocolate fondue fountains. Ahhh, the highlight of the night – chocolate! We had pound cake, marshmallows, brownies, pineapples, strawberries, apples, bananas and pretzels to dip and cover with chocolate. It was good. We sat down at new tables and talked while we watched Ferris Bueller’s day off on the TV. My maiden name was Buell, so when that movie came out I had an instant nickname for a really long time (BuellER!) It was cool though. The time flew by and before I knew it, it was time to clean up and go. I think these things need to go for 3 hours, not 2. But it was fun (although I’m still very full of chocolate.)

Fun trivia! I need an 80s chocolate night, too. I got 11 out of 15 right, not too bad.
