Snow hike
After a wonderful lunch of Bun duc biet and cafe su da at Pho we dropped James off to study and do his flight plan while the girls and I went on a hike. James has a night flight tonight, finally the weather is cooperating and giving clear skies. For our hike we went to the Audubon center at Chatfield. We walked down the muddy path over the bridge to blackbird pond (where we swam this summer.) Here’s what it looked like then:
And now:
The purple thistles have long since turned brown and the snow was everywhere except for the small path we were walking on. Thistles then:
And now:
We went around to the Platte river and threw rocks in.
We saw a squirrel and swallows and collected seeds. On the way back we saw 4 deer, they apparently saw us too.
We tromped through the snow to cut back to the pond path and watched the fish scatter when we clomped back across the bridge. Two more good swimming spots were revealed on our hike; one was just the same pond but a better access point, the other was the Platte river.
It was about 58 degrees and the sun is quickly melting all the snow.
By the time we got back to the car we were all soaked from shoes to knees, but we had fun getting that way.
Back at home we put our seeds in jars so we can see them until we figure out what we’re doing with them.
Don’t forget time change is tonight!
