We're a busy Homeschooling family of 6. We think every day needs to be an adventure - so wake up and get moving!

HOMEschooling doesn't mean you always have to be HOME!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Emerson
In structure there is freedom.

The weekend

Friday night we had 5 boys sleeping over and though they went to bed late (or very early in the morning depending on how you look at it) they were great. I fed them cinnamon rolls, Krispy Kreme and coke for breakfast and then sent them home! The girls had a party to go to so we missed out on the museum in the dark day which sounded very cool. But, look what we would have missed: Dancing to Karaoke machine music,

playing games,

eating ice cream

and friends. Yes, everyone is dressed up except for my kids because we don’t dress up for Halloween and it was a Halloween birthday party, I guess I could have blurred the lines and let them, but it was fine. Hannah did borrow this fish hat though.

My friend’s daughter made all of these costumes, she’s awesome!

Back at home Joel babysat while James and I went to White Chocolate grill for dinner. I have to say I was really looking forward to the same dinner I had last time, but the steak was just a bit off. Oh well, the company was still good!

Sunday right before church it started to snow, I thought it was supposed to be partly cloudy….but I guess the weatherman changed the forecast when I wasn’t watching. At church we were talking about living a passionate life and this week we were on sensitivity. What does that look like? Sensitivity is an increased desire to meet the needs of others. An increased awareness of the Spirit’s leading and keeping my response in step with the Spirit’s leading. In plain talk what does that mean? Putting others needs ahead of our own. Maybe going out of our way to help someone we might usually not, or considering a request from a child that annoys us; but really there isn’t anything wrong with it, we just don’t want to do it. In order to hear God we have to be immersed in Him, reading His word and learning to pray and listen.

It continued to snow throughout the afternoon and night. Since the mall closed early we went out to the bookstore and sat around reading for an hour. The snow was coming down great, but wasn’t sticking that well. So, no sledding tomorrow.

Galatians 5:22-25

22-23 But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

23-24 Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified.

25-26 Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.
