We're a busy Homeschooling family of 6. We think every day needs to be an adventure - so wake up and get moving!

HOMEschooling doesn't mean you always have to be HOME!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Emerson
In structure there is freedom.

The Colorado Adventure

Friday

Today was Bethany’s first day volunteering at the library. Next week she’ll get a name badge, but for today we were shown were to find the badges, what supplies to get, where to exit and where to log her time in. Hannah sat down for story time and Bethany got to work facing books, dusting shelves and cleaning grubby books. Her job is grooming the shelves and if you stop by the children’s reference section today – it’s pretty groomed. Grace is so happy to have extra reading time. She sits and gets a stack of books to read and then gets another stack to take home. This from the girl who couldn’t read before June of this year, it’s awesome. The only problem I have now is that by the time we get home Grace is already done with her books she picked out, I had to tell her to read slower!

I dropped the kids off and went to a friends’ house to take family/pregnant pics. We were able to do outside shots and I got a few good ones. Her baby is due in 2 weeks or so, which means I get to come back for baby pics.

Back at home I hurriedly made a cake, Joel wanted a camo cake, this is the best I could do.

His friends came over for an air soft war, pizza and cake and a (not) sleep-over. Here are the band of air soft mercenaries in the front yard.

I love how focused little Sam is (we had 2 Sam’s last night.) He didn’t move at all from his ‘I have you in my sights’ stance. Oh, I was so glad our new neighbors didn’t choose that exact moment to show up. They shot and played, ate, played, ate, etc.

One of Joel’s friends had the idea of wrapping his present in a box extra duct taped and the putting it in a bigger box also very duct taped, so Joel got a knife (I’m surprised he didn’t grab his sword) and sliced through the tape.

I thought that package was rather light.

They boys (6 in total) got yelled at once to be quiet, but I think it was just their manly deep voices being heard, not that they were being obnoxiously loud. I think next year I’d like to rent out the rec center and throw them all in there for the night (or I could make them camp out in the back yard!) Oh well, you only have 1 birthday a year, I think I can stand it.

Love the party pics! Now which Sam do I have? (BTW, when did my little Sam start to look so old?)
