HOMEschooling doesn't mean you always have to be HOME!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Emerson
In structure there is freedom.

The Colorado Adventure

Tuesday

Today Joel was off school due to his birthday, I know in the real world people don’t get the day off for their birthday, but we do. So, he stayed home and played video games with his friend who is off-track from school. I ran errands and then took the car into the shop, again. They replaced the hose and clamps, again and hopefully it will not leak. They are probably tired of me bringing it in to get fixed for free, but hey, that’s what a warranty is for. We did school work while we waited and Hannah plead a card game and drank hot cocoa. When the mechanic said the car was ready Hannah hugged him, I guess she was really happy that we were done.

Next we traveled to Boulder to eat lunch in the CU cafeteria, with the added bonus of going to the natural history museum there. We had a packed lunch and I guess some people might think it strange that 3 little girls and a mom in shorts (it was sunny when I put them on!) were eating in the college cafeteria, but not me. I love the natural history museum on the campus, one because it’s free and two because it is so quiet. They have a neat lounge in the basement where you can get free tea and coffee and sometimes cookies while the kids play in the discovery area.

They had a new exhibit of Navajo weavings so we brought out the drawing pads and got to work.

I forgot the colored pencils so we will have to finish the coloring part at home.

We saw lots of beautiful rugs, some with very intricate designs.

Hannah was clicking on the computer and looking at the rugs via that. There was a loom in one corner that you could weave on, a magnifying glass for inspecting the rugs up close and articles about how to tell the difference between a Navajo rug and a Mexican woven rug. It was very interesting.

We went by the tea shop (Hannah thought I said cheese shop, she was disappointed) to buy more tea. My Grandma wants apple cinnamon and can’t find it in Houston, so I bought her some, we also found peppermint, green mint and orange spice. MMMMmmmmmm.

We ran by the house and picked up Joel, his birthday dinner was at Roadhouse due to my being gone all day. He opened his presents: an I-pod, a magic trick, deck of cards and an airplane shooter; he was happy. Then at home we had strawberry pound cake and sang Happy Birthday to Joel, wow, 15 is old!

He left to sleep over at a friends house and we retired early for the evening. It had just started to snow when we went to bed leaving us dreaming of visions of white.
