We're a busy Homeschooling family of 6. We think every day needs to be an adventure - so wake up and get moving!

HOMEschooling doesn't mean you always have to be HOME!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Emerson
In structure there is freedom.

Count day

Today was the official count window for the 2 virtual schools we use. They take attendance on this day (and in public schools) to show how many kids they have enrolled so they get the right funds. Bethany and Grace did the usual, spelling, math, history, science, and art. Joel took a break from his usual method (of doing 1 weeks worth of that subject on 1 day) and did a little of everything today, including 2 elluminate sessions (on-line classes) about web tools and myth buster science. He also dropped a few assignments in the drop boxes on-line to get an extra 5 points for each class. In Spanish he had a question of ‘How are you? Who is your favorite person?’ So he answered, ‘Estoy bien. Mi persona favorita es Stephen Colbert.’ On Colbert’s show he has his south American correspondent chime in from time to time (he’s Esteban Colberto) so I thought it was funny.

My friend made this weighted vest for Hannah (she’s making one for Grace too.)

It’s a special vest that has different weights of bb’s in the pockets. The vest is used for kids that are hyper, sensory, ADD/ADHD or just like the feeling of being hugged. Hannah put it on at the park yesterday and didn’t take it off until it was time for bed.

It has 2 ¼ lb packets in the front, a ½ lb packet for the back pocket and an extra ¾ lb one for the back (Hannah wanted it in too, she was running around with 1.75 lbs of bb’s on her.)

My friends’ son wears a vest with about 5 lbs on it. These vests cost over $100 from specialty OT stores, she made hers for about $8, she is awesome. I think Grace will like the vest for the times when her meds are overwhelming her……..like now.

And finally take a look at the books we got from the library. I’ll give you 1 guess as to where we’re going this weekend…..
