I ♥ Faces

At I ♥ Faces the theme this week is patriotic stories, so here ya go.

The 4th of July is about celebrating our history and heritage.

It’s a time to have fun,

watch a parade,

play some games,

blow some bubbles,

and watch some fireworks.

It’s about remembering a time when we weren’t free to say and do as we pleased. It’s about heroes and legends, fables and lore.

It’s about men and women who stood up and tried their best to make a place, a home, a land where they could be free to practice their faith and bring up their families they way they wanted to.

Sure, they were just people like you and me. They made decisions and made mistakes, they behaved heroically and cowardly. They brought forth a new kind of government to rule the land.

Maybe when we think of the founding fathers we make them like gods who can do no wrong. As we celebrate on the 4th of July we should remember this: the freedoms we have we take lightly. It’s only when those freedoms are taken away bit by bit that we remember how good we have it. We are one nation under God, we have spilled our sons blood to protect our freedom, land and liberties – we will continue to do so.

To whom much is given, much is required. We are free to live, laugh and dream.

We not only live in the land of the free and the home of the brave -

we must celebrate each year and remember the sacrifices and honor, bravery and legends that made this country great and make it great today.
