School today

School today looked like this for Bethany.

Do you see the pattern of sums for the multiplication of doubles (1X1, 2X2, etc.) 3,5,7,9,11,13, 15, etc. How weird is that? I never noticed that before. She’s working on knowing her math facts, I know you don’t need to know them, but it is a lot nicer when you do know them. Joel had a math test and started on a new section of Algebra, factoring polynomials (like 3ac-9b = 3(ac -3b)) Grace’s reading is getting better and better, it seems time off has helped with that. She’s getting over an allergy cough too, we’ve almost got it licked, but the cottonwood is flying thick around here so she’ll have to be on treatments for a few more weeks. Hannah is enthralled with bubbles and playdough right now, if they made a playdough that could float like a bubble she’d be fascinated.

We’ve hit summer here and it feels good, maybe a bit too good. We’re doing co-ops and field trips, library stuff and everyone wants to go swimming in the creek, it’s hard to fit school in there. We try to do it in the morning when it’s cooler, no one wants to swim in cold water when it’s cold. We have had 2 weeks off and now we’re getting back into a lazy summer swing of things. But, that’s cool, we’re just having fun and learning too.

Tomorrow is park day and we’re having Grace’s pre-birthday party at the park. She has a pinata, Joel is doing a magic show, we’re having bubbles, balloons and a sack race, sounds like fun. Thursday is her real birthday so I’m sure we’ll be making a trip to Chuck E Cheese’s that night. Friday she gets her cast off, yay! Today was her friend’s birthday (Mrs. Maris I, the mother of the Save the Whales founder, also Maris) so she sent her this pic via e-mail. Mrs. Maris already sent Grace a Happy Birthday e-mail, isn’t that cool?!
