Whiskey, India, November, Golf, Sierra

Yes, we went to the Wing’s museum yesterday for kids day. We got passports to complete at each station.

We learned about the 4 forces of flight, spelled our names in the flyer’s alphabet (Mike, Alpha, Mike, Alpha), made moon rocks out of putty and saw this cool model airplane that weighs less than a penny.

We made rockets and balsa planes, sat in cockpits and pedal planes and in general had fun.

We saw this F-86H being restored, usually we just see the finished plane.

It’s kind of neat to see it in the restoration stage. They had the flight simulators up and running too, a suggestion that we had made about 6 months ago. After getting our fill of planes we went over to the thrift store in the area. How lucky is Grace?

She found a huge humpback whale that spouts water and sings 3 whale songs, pretty neat. Who threw that away? She has a knack lately for finding whales at the thrift store, good for her!

Today we made a trip to the doc for Grace, her eardrum popped and was leaking fluid. I guess when she said her ear was hurting at different times during the month, it really was. It must have backed up some fluid and then stopped hurting, it didn’t hurt when it popped and since the pressure is released it doesn’t hurt now. But, there is a hole in her eardrum, so she’s on antibiotics and ear drops for 5 days. Luckily she has a new friend to sit with her while she waits for the drops to sit in her ear.

The kids got gift cards from their Uncle for Wal-mart so we went by there after lunch. Grace got an E-pet (unicorn) and a pad of hangman games. Hannah scored a purple pony and a fur-real panda. Which I thought was cute, but it’s constant whining and crying are making me think I need to turn it off. Hopefully it will drink a bottle and go to sleep for awhile. Bethany went all out and bought 4 training bras. No, she doesn’t need them, but now she has 4 to wear. We finally found some that weren’t padded (please, padded bras for 9 year olds?!) So, she’s all happy now, so thanks Uncle John, you have facilitated my 9 year old into training bras now; I was willing to wait another 2 years.

Thanks for blogging about the museum! We are trying hard to make it a fun and educational place to come for both kids AND adults. The real kudos go to our educatiin director, Darci, and her crack staff.
Hope to see you back soon. You never know what will have changed around here. :)
