Co-ops

I had 2 today. One has been resch. a number of times because it was just one family coming. So, today they made it here and we did record bowls.

You take a pre-1985 record (I think because after that time the records have something added to them that makes them not able to melt well and they stink) heat the oven to 250 degrees and get a metal or ceramic bowl ready. If you happen to be hip and not own any records, you can get them for about 50 cents at the thrift store. Notice: don’t put edible stuff in the bowl (like popcorn or apples), but trinkets, fruit you have to peel or plants will work fine. You can put the record on top of the bowl or in the bowl in the oven for a few minutes. We found that when we put the record on top of the bowl it came out with 4 square edges. When we pushed the record into the bowl it came out wavy and looking like a flower.

After the kids melted their records they went to the table and glued on all kinds of stuff to them.

The best part is everyone has a different looking bowl. Pretty cool.

My second co-op was the speed cup stacking. If you are cheap (like me) and want to do the inexpensive form of speed cup-stacking (while losing some of the speediness) go get some solo grip cups from the store. When you put them down in 3-6-3 just make sure the cups are turned so that they are a little further apart (just turn one cup so the grip isn’t right next to the grip of the bottom cup.) This way they won’t stick together when you try to stack them. As for a mat you can get a roll of the counter grip mat stuff at the dollar store. I think some people were sick when I was supposed to have it so we resch. it too. We were still missing a few people who were sick, but the kids had fun. They did the 3-6-3 method and then started just stacking away.

Grace was trying to make the highest stack, but I think her friend beat her.

Hannah thought the perfect place for cups was on her hands and feet!

Bethany made a new friend so after they stacked a few rounds they went off to play.

With the people we had out we had just enough of everything to go around. I usually bemoan the fact that people are missing, but it always works out fine. This was more of a play-date with cup stacking than a proper co-op, but the kids had fun.
