Candy cane festival

It started snowing last night just a bit and this morning we had some snow on the streets, but nothing to fret over. We went to dance class and did our usual, Bethany – dance, Joel – magic shop, James – panera, Grace, Hannah and I – library. Then we had hot cocoa at panera and took Bethany back to dance. We wandered around in the snow for a bit and then picked up Bethany and went to lunch. The snow started to gain a little strength by this time and we headed over to the Hammond’s candy cane festival.

We rode the train, saw the reindeer, took the tour and ate candy.

It was very festive and much more cheery with the snow. Hannah got a little cold because she was jumping in puddles, but we warmed up inside during the tour. We saw the image candy, that’s the kind with a Santa or flower or star in the middle.

No matter how they cut it the image will still come out, it’s like the reverse candy cane (where the jacket is out on over the white, in this case the plain jacket is out on over the design.)

It was snowing so nicely at this point that we had to stop by the Wal-mart on Bowles. It always snows when we go there, so we had to go because it was snowing!

We finally got home about 5pm and started on dinner and Advent studies.

After dinner was all cleaned up we made sugar cookies.

I made half the dough red and half green and we made designs, candy canes and just cool looking cookies.

Who is going to help me eat all these?

You’ll notice Grace doesn’t have her glasses on in any of these pics, because they’re broken. Hopefully tomorrow we can trudge through the snow and get them fixed before recital on Monday. Yes, she has the okay from the doc to dance on Monday, and she’ll be really easy to spot! Here’s to a nice, quiet, snowy day tomorrow. We’ll go to church and then stay home eating cookies and making paper snowflakes to put on the windows – hooray!
