Evan, park, Rockies, fire, snow?!

We saw an awesome movie yesterday at the dollar theater. Evan Almighty. This movie is so good I wish I had supported them at the regular box office. Yes, it’s that good that I would pay $50 to go see it. I am going to buy it on DVD when it comes out. It had a great message (pray and when God asks you to do something, no matter what others think, do it, do random acts of kindness and you can change the world a little at a time.) Evan prays that God will help him with his campaign promise to ‘change the world’ and God asks him to build an ark. What?!! ‘Are you crazy’, Evan thinks. But when Evan does what God wants him to, things happen. I love the line Morgan Freeman says (playing God), “I love you and even when things are hard and you don’t think I’m doing what’s right for you, I still love you.” Later Freeman says, “You think that when someone prays for patience God gives them patience? Or does He give them the opportunity to practice patience?” It’s an awesome movie. I love the fact that it might get people thinking ‘Hey, maybe these people that I thought were really weird/doing something I think is stupid/telling me that God told them to do something, aren’t that bad.’ The movie showed that you can do your own thing, but when God knocks, it’s hard to not follow what He says you should do. There were no unnecessary scenes like in Bruce Almighty (orgasm scene) and only twice where a stray dog nosed Evan in the groin (and one time made him hit his head on the ark.) It was a good laugh and had a good message at the same time; I can’t remember when I’ve said that about a movie.

Anyway today we chilled out and went to the park to play. Grace was hilarious at the park. She was playing and then came running up to me and said,
“Mom! See that girl? She’s 5 and she’s home-schooled too!”

I said, ‘Yeah, I bet if you ask each one of these moms sitting right here, you’d find out they all HS!’

To which she responded by bugging out her eyes, dropping her jaw and saying, “Whaaaat!”, and then ran off to play.

Yes, Grace, we go to the park with this specific group of HS’ers, so I’m not surprised that you met somebody who is HS’ed! The neighbor’s kids were off track so we took them with us and now everyone’s outside playing some more (2 hours at the park wasn’t enough!) I’m trying to get hold of a lady at the Wings over the Rockies museum for Joel’s party (if they have that Sat. available.) I have GS fans to pick up at Kinko’s, a lady coming over to get some drawers for the bed I sold her and I quit listening to the Rockies game (because in the few minutes I did they went from 3-0 to 3-2 score, bottom of the 5th.)

Did you hear that they got the wild card slot after winning that game on Monday in the 13th inning? Well, they did, in fact they have been on a winning streak, so we need to wait till after the game to find out the score or we’ll jinx them. I heard that the $5 seats for Sat. are going for $70 (and are sold out.) If I thought we had a chance at tickets Monday night I would have stayed in line, but I knew better. That is one bad thing about people being able to buy things on-line, things get sold out faster. I don’t think it’s fair, but James says it’s all fair (but that’s because he buys things on-line!)

Also there’s a fire behind the foothills, I can’t imagine that it’s the house fire in Genesee, but I can’t find anything on the news about it (don’t worry, it’s miles away from us and behind the foothill.)

And as a last note, we have a chance for snow Sat. night/Sun. morning. Of course it won’t last or probably stick, but that’s ok, more will come.
